Business Strategy and Business Architecture, How to enable successful execution of business strategies using business architecture.
Business architecture discipline is more and more recognized as a keystone for successful execution of business strategies and transformations. This is a short course to provide an introduction into the business architecture discipline and a deeper look into the role of business architecture in executing business strategies based on A Guide to the Business Architecture Body of Knowledge (BIZBOK®) by the Business Architecture Guild.
According to the BIZBOK® Guide, “Business Architecture represents holistic, multidimensional business views of: capabilities, end-to-end value delivery, information, and organizational structure; and the relationships among these business views and strategies, products, policies, initiatives, and stakeholders.”
Organizations are living, breathing ecosystems and understanding the multidimensional relationships that exists across the business ecosystem brings a line of sight and transparency into how different parts of an organization work together to generate value for its stakeholders. This, in turn, helps to better understand the scope and impact of strategic directions or business transformations across the business ecosystem.
In this course we will go over the value of leveraging business architecture discipline and the business architecture framework, encompassing the business architecture knowledgebase (core and extended domains), blueprints, and business scenarios. We will also talk about the principles of business architecture discipline.
We will then introduce the Strategy Execution Framework, why it matters, and the role of business architecture in each step of the path from strategy to execution.
