Gelatine Flowers, for cake decoration, jewellery, gift decoration and more…
Course Description
This short course teaches you how to make decorative flowers from liquid gelatine. Gelatine flowers make a great alternative to sugarpaste flowers when decorating cakes as it is light, durable, food-safe, and the colours do not fade or degrade. In addition to cake decoration, you’ll see how gelatine flowers can also be made into;
- Sprays
- Bouquets
- Wreaths
- Corsage
- Bridal head dresses
- Serviette rings
- Hair Slides
- Brooches
- …and much more…
You don’t need any particular experience to take this course; just a willingness to have a go! Short videos show you how to create the wire petal and leaf shapes, as well as videos showing you how to make up the gelatine solution, dip the leaves and petals and then tape them into flowers.
The course gives you details of the other tools you can use; which are simple everyday objects such as scissors, tweezers, etc. Food colouring can also be used to add attractive colours to your flowers and leaves. The food colours, floral wire and tape can be purchased from any good cake decorating/craft shop or bought online.
The idea for this course came initially from my Mother who (as far as I can make out), came up with the idea of forming flowers out of liquid gelatine. Sadly, Doreen passed away in 2012 from a rare dementia. If you enjoy the tutorials and ideas in this course, the last section contains a small appeal from me, where I ask that you might donate to either of the two charities that research dementia and help those that are affected by it.
If you do have a go, please send me your photos – IÂ shall add them to the gallery in the last section. Thanking you all.
