Course Description
In this course you will learn what is a Research Question and how to do a quick detailed Literature Review. We will start by defining and evaluating Research Questions with some interactive quizzes and then jump to Literature Review. In the literature review, Google Search, PubMed, Citation, References, Comments and Similar Articles will be discussed and you will be guided on how how to get the most out of each one of them. This course is suitable for medical students, pre-med students, resident physicians and scientists. This course can help you with identifying key information you need before starting our research project.
This course is tough by Dr. Malke Assad who is an incoming plastic surgery resident at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Aleppo medical school in Syria, he pursued 3 years of clinical research at two world-renowned institutions – The Mayo Clinic in Rochester/Minnesota, and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston/Texas. During three years of research, he worked with leaders of the field and published over 100 publications and participated in over 80 presentations. I would be thrilled to share my extensive research experience with you and help you achieve your goals after your research time.
By the end of finishing the course, participants should be able to:
- Have a basic idea about the two most common search engines you need to use for a literature review.
- Filter papers quickly without spending much time.
- Define and make use of citations, references, comments and suggestions
- Perform a detailed search on PubMed
