NCAA: Student Athletes, Anarchy & The Transfer Game

NCAA: Student Athletes, Anarchy & The Transfer Game, What parents & coaches must know to protect a student athlete’s eligibility & reputation.

Course Description

NCAA TRANSFER PORTAL: If you enjoy certainty, stability & the status quo then the recent NCAA changes are not for you! There are exciting, positive, overdue school transfer changes taking place for NCAA student athletes but it is critical that you as a sports parent, high school coach or athlete learn these complex rules to stay out of trouble.

FUTURE JOB SEARCH:
Believe it or not some day your son or daughter student athlete will retire from college sports and start looking for a J.O.B. HR will run an online search of that job candidate. What shows up on page one of that online search? Hopefully no red flags about NCAA investigations or violations. But sadly we continue to see these NCAA investigations all over social media and the news. We need to get informed today…before the athlete leaves for college.

Some questions to ask yourself as a sports parent or high school coach:

· What is the “Transfer Portal”?

· How many times is a student athlete allowed to transfer without penalty?

· What are the eligibility requirements for a one-time transfer?

· Are there waivers allowing for multiple transfers without penalty?

· Who may a sports parent and student athlete communicate with both outside and inside the “transfer portal window”?

· When is the transfer portal window?

· What are the penalties for violating the the transfer portal communication rules?

· Will an NCAA investigation become public information?

NCAA’S PUBLIC INVESTIGATIONS:
This due diligence is the new normal for parents, coaches and athletes. The NCAA has arguably never experienced this much rapid, complex change and uncertainty in its existence. We now have “name, image, likeness” and the “transfer portal” to learn about to help student athletes stay compliant and eligible. Not really an option for parents and high school coaches to let someone else “take care of it”. Once the athlete graduates high school and moves on to college they will be busy and not super focused on NCAA compliance rules and regulations. Let’s be real. And again, we see these very public NCAA investigations and reports on the sports channels and social media every day.

PARENT + COACH TEAM:
The fix? We need parents and high school coaches to learn the new “transfer portal” rules so you may educate your high school athlete before they go to college.

WHAT WE’LL COVER:
With this class, you will learn about the rules and regulations concerning the NCAA’s new Transfer Portal for college athletes. What is allowed, what is not allowed, who the family may speak with and when….and who to avoid (at all costs) when it comes to recruiting and transfers (see Boosters!). Help prepare your high school student athlete before college to make good decisions when it comes to the new, evolving school transfer opportunities.

ONE MORE TIME!!!
It can’t be stressed enough – as a sports parent or high school coach the athlete needs your guidance on the NCAA transfer portal. Help set the athlete up for success before they head off for college. Bad decisions can lead to NCAA investigations and public disclosure on cable sport channels and social media.

ARE YOU READY?:
Here is our hypo for today’s class – your son or daughter just graduates from college after a successful, diligent career as a student athlete. Now he or she is applying for their first job. When HR looks online, what will that company see on page one of their search? Will it be negative red flags or positive information regarding that former student athlete?

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
